MLB – New York Yankees Season Preview
The defending champion New York Yankees are back to defend their crown in 2010. They are heavily favored to win it again in 2010. Vegas lines have them on top with 14 to 5 odds. Everything points to a repeat. The team is returning almost everybody. Johnny Damon still unsigned might be the big loss. With plenty of power on offense they should be able to put runs on the board. Seven players hit 20 plus homeruns in 2009.
Two players return with batting averages over 320. The offense will set the tone for 2010. Opposing pitchers can not pitch around anybody. They will put nine players in the lineup that can beat you.
One question for New York is their pitching staff. With players getting one year older will it affect them. Andy Petite is in his upper 30s and still in the rotation. CC Sabathia and A. J. Burnett should be in there prime. Ace reliever Mariano Rivera at 40 plus could be on his down hill slide. With gold glove fielders like Derek Jeter behind them they should still be alright. If players like Alex Rodriguez can put their steroid accusations behind them and get back to playing the caliber of ball expected the Yankees will make a run to the World Series again.
Coach Joe Girardi has blended this all star cast into a ball team.
