Milwaukee Brewers vs. Arizona Diamondbacks – Match Review

Milwaukee Brewers leads the 3 match series against the Arizona Diamondbacks by 2-0. The D-backs although have lost the series, they will definitely try to win Game 3 to save some grace.

This season, for the Milwaukee Brewers, Jody Gerut has made only four starts. He has earned himself at least one more, after his offensive outburst Saturday against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Gerut hit a solo home run in the second inning, singled in the third, drove in a run with a triple in the fifth and added a two-run double in the ninth.

Gerut has been mostly a bench player, due to injury and he missed all the 2006 and ’07 seasons. He had only four hits on the season and one hit in his last 18 at-bats. Casey and Rickie Weeks each added three hits, Ryan Braun had four RBIs. At Chase Field, after a rocky first inning, Randy Wolf (3-2) settled down to improve to 7-1.in three of its last five games, Milwaukee has scored at least 11 runs and reached double digits in runs for the sixth time this season.

With a solo home run in the second, Arizona’s lead was cut in half by Gerut. his two-run double pushed the lead to 16-3 and His RBI triple sparked a six-run fifth that put the Brewers up 11-2.Braun added an RBI double in the ninth and has 44 hits in 30 games this year. Over the next five innings, Wolf allowed only four baserunners. With an RBI single in the sixth, Wolf helped his cause, that gave Milwaukee a 10-run cushion.

With four runs in the third, The Brewers took the lead. George Kottaras walked with the bases loaded; Prince Fielder and McGehee had RBI singles.

Solo homer in the sixth by Reynolds was the 99th of his career, tying him with Matt Williams for third most in Diamondbacks’ history. Conor Jackson and Reynolds, couldn’t ever get the momentum back even though Arizona scored two runs in the first on RBI singles.
