Against the Rockies, Zito’s 2.00 career ERA is his best against any opponent. Since the start of last year, he has a 1.24 ERA against them in five outings. With eight strong innings in a 5-2 win April 30, he beat Colorado for the third straight time, at home.
“He’s always tough against us. I can’t hit him, I’ve never been able to hit him. Hopefully one day I’ll figure him out,” said Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki. against Zito , Tulowitzki is 5 for 33 (.152).
Zito in his first six starts, has a 5.40 ERA in his last four outings after going 5-0 with a 1.49 ERA.
The Giants hope Pablo Sandoval will help and can stay hot to avoid that fate. in the final four games of May, Sandoval went 3 for 4 to improve to 8 for 17 with a home run and five RBIs. in the month’s first 23 contests, the third baseman hit .191 with no homers.
