The Los Angeles Angels will play against the Chicago White Sox this weekend. These two teams have both had solid starts to the season, but both teams find their squads behind another team in the standings.

MLB odds have the Angels at 35-1 to win the World Series this season, and the White Sox at 40-1.

The Los Angeles Angles are 6-5 on the season and already find themselves 3 games behind the Rangers in the standings. The Chicago White Sox are 7-4 and they trail the Cleveland Indians by 1 game after 11 games.

The White Sox have managed to win their games through some great offensive production. They are within the top 5 teams in the MLB in Runs, Batting Average, On Base Percentage and Slugging Percentage. They have outscored their opponents by 15 runs to this point in the season. They’ll be the home team in this game and they have gone 4-2 while playing at home this season.

The Angels have not been nearly as consistent offensively, but they have been a great team in terms of pitching. Dan Haren and Jered Weaver have been carrying the load, collected all 6 wins for the Angels. The team is 6-0 in their starts and the pitchers have combine for 47.1 innings while only allowing 20 hits and 4 runs. Haren has only allowed a total of 13 batters on base by hits or walks.

Unfortunately the Angels will only have one of those two pitchers to take the mound in this series. This means that either Palmer or Chatwood will have to step up to help Weaver. In baseball picks, the Chicago White Sox are favorites to win this match.

The White Sox are at 35-1 baseball odds to win the 2011 World Series in MLB Betting.

The offseason acquisition of power hitter Adam Dunn has many analysts predicting the White Sox will capture the Central Division crown. The perennial slugger has hit 38 or more home runs every year since 2004. With his move to the hitter friendly ballpark in Chicago, Dunn is expected to reach the forty home run mark again this year, and has the potential to hit close to fifty. His addition to the White Sox lineup will add another power dynamic that was missing from last year’s roster when Jim Thome left for Minnesota.

The White Sox’s pitching rotation figures to be one of the better ones on the American League. With all-star Makr Buehrle set to be the rotation’s ace again, the White Sox look to be in good shape regarding their starting pitchers. Gavin Floyd, John Danks, Edwin Jackson, and Phil Humber round out Chicago’s starting rotation. If the White Sox can get Jake Peavy back from injury, this team will have a loaded rotation, and should contend for the division crown all season long.

However, one question mark for the White Sox is the team’s bullpen. With the departure of Bobby Jenks, Chicago is left without a proven closer. Matt Thornton will start as the team’s closer in the beginning of the season, but only time will tell how effective he will be in that role. In baseball picks the Chicago White Sox are favorites to win the World Series.

As the 2010 MLB season starts to wind down there are less and less intriguing match ups on the schedule. However, this is not the case this coming weekend when the Chicago White Sox travel to Boston to take on the Red Sox during a three game series. Both teams are still alive in the playoff chase but their chances are slipping with each loss. In the MLB lines too, their odds looks disappointing.

Boston has fallen 8 games back in the AL East race and 7 games behind Tampa Bay for the AL Wildcard. If they hope to make the post season they will need to go on a serious run in this last month of September. The Chicago White Sox on the other hand have a much better chance of making the playoffs. Currently they are 4 games back of Minnesota in the AL Central race. The White Sox’s only chance of making the post season is by winning the division, so they will have to play better baseball over the next month. Chicago does have a three game series with Minnesota in Chicago later this month making it that much more important the White Sox keep the Twins within a few games before that series starts, where they can make up more ground.

This weekend’s series appears to be shaping up as a good one based on pitching match ups alone. Each team will send their three best starters to the mound, which should make for some exciting baseball games. Friday will see John Danks vs Clay Buchholz, Saturday will feature Gavin Floyd vs John Lackey, and Sunday will pit Mark Buehrle vs Josh Beckett. With these quality pitchers we should see playoff caliber baseball played this weekend at Fenway Park.

Seattle Mariners lag the four game series against Chicago White Sox by two games. They need to win the Game 3 (8:10 pm ET, FSN), on Wednesday, at U.S. Cellular Field, Chicago, Illinois. The Mariners have a 39-62 home, 15-34 away record whereas the White Sox has a 55-44 away, 29-19 home record.

For almost two months, at home, the Chicago White Sox have been nearly invincible. At U.S. Cellular Field, their dominance over the Seattle Mariners extends back much further than that.

The White Sox look to win their 10th straight at home, with red-hot Mark Buehrle on the mound. The White Sox, are a major league-best 31-11 since June and no team has been better the last seven weeks than them. In the AL Central, they have gone from 9 1/2 games out of first place to a one-game lead on Minnesota.

As Chicago has won nine straight and 16 of its last 17 at home, almost all of those 11 losses have come on the road. With a second straight easy win over the Mariners, the White Sox continued their home dominance Tuesday night. In an 11-0 victory, they hit three homers. Alexei Ramirez in his last three games is 8 for 12 with five RBIs after going hitless in his previous 12 at-bats.

Seattle lost third baseman Jose Lopez because of a tight left hamstring in the second inning. On Tuesday, the team played without the center fielder Franklin Gutierrez. Mark Buehrle in his last 31 innings has issued three walks, tossed eight scoreless innings. In eight home starts versus Seattle, he is 6-0 with a 3.34 ERA. Against the White Sox left-hander, Ichiro Suzuki is 18 for 42 (.429). For the Mariners, Jason Vargas (6-5, 2.94) looks to continue his consistent pitching. Against Boston on Friday, Vargas was solid again.

Chicago White Sox and Oakland Athletics duel it out in Game 1 (10:05 pm ET, WGN), on Friday, at the Oakland Coliseum, Oakland, California. The White Sox have a 52-42 home, 25-23 away record whereas the Athletics have a 48-47 away, 28-21 home record.

Against the A’s, Mark Buehrle will try to end his struggles and get the first-place. To the three-game set Friday night, Chicago White Sox off to a good start. From 2001-2007, against the A’s, Chicago (52-42) dropped 27 of 33 road games.

Buehrl with a 4.95 ERA in 10 career starts there has gone 0-6. 2-year-old Yankee Stadium and Target Field are the only other AL parks in which Buehrle has failed to win. In 20 overall starts against the A’s, he is 3-12 with a 4.11 ERA.

In the Twins series, Chicago bounced back against Seattle to take two of three and to improve to 3-4 on its trip, although in the series Chicago dropped three of four. On Wednesday, as the White Sox lost 2-1, Bobby Jenks allowed two runs in the 11th inning. In the ninth inning of a 7-6 loss to the Twins on Sunday, he gave up four runs. Jenks could be replaced by Matt Thornton, J.J. Putz and Sergio Santos.

Lately for the A’s, pitching has not been a problem. While winning seven of eight, the team has posted a 2.34 ERA. On Wednesday, Oakland defeated Boston 6-4. From a bruised right hand, Carlos Quentin is expected to return. On the White Sox, the outfielder is second, with 19 homers and 64 RBIs and he has not played since Sunday.

Oakland and Chicago have split their past 18 meetings.

Chicago Sox will start the series against Toronto Blue Jays (8:40 pm ET, CSN) with high level of confidence, after sweeping the first series. The match will take place at the U.S. Cellular Field, Chicago, Illinois. The Jays have a home record of 16-13, 9-3 away record and White Sox have 12-16 away, 8-7 home record.

Chicago White Sox have to improve their starting pitching which has been the key reason for most of their disappointing starts. John Danks however has been impressive. Danks is Sox’s strength.

The key players for Sox are Danks (3-0, 1.85), Mark Buehrle (5.30) and Jake Peavy (6.31). In four starts against the Blue Jays, Danks is 1-2 with a 5.03 ERA and gave up two runs in five innings. Freddy Garcia presence will also count a lot for the Sox.

Rommie Lewis, the leadoff man for the Jays has been in great touch. His feature packed performance includes three-hits, two-RBI games against the Indians on Wednesday. In five May contests, he went 9-for-24 for a .429/.480/.762 line to go along with six runs scored and five RBIs.

Dana Eveland has pitched well for the Jays with -0, 1.50 ERA in 12 innings against the White Sox in his career, including a six-innings, two-run victory when these two teams met last month. He is looking to bounce back from his last two starts and has a 4.22 ERA against the White Sox. Make sure to check out the latest MLB lines @ your favorite sportsbook.
