When facing the Minnesota Twins, it is no surprise, that team focuses on slowing down, the potent combination of Justin Morneau and Joe Mauer. It would be wise if they pay close attention to Delmon Young. On Wednesday night, for a second straight victory over the sputtering Toronto Blue Jays, Young looks to continue his hot hitting.

On Tuesday in the opener of a six-game trip, Minnesota rallied for a 7-6 victory over Toronto. while Mauer, Morneau and Jason Kubel all hit solo homers as the Twins (45-38) erased a three-run deficit and remained one-half game behind AL Central-leading Detroit, Young went 3 for 3 with an RBI and scored the winning run.

For the final spot on the AL All-Star team, Young in his last 30 games, is batting .363 (40 for 110) with 4 homers, 29 RBIs and 10 doubles. To earn his first All-Star nod, teammate Michael Cuddyer is pulling for Young. With five homers and 13 RBIs, Morneau is also swinging a hot bat, hitting .363 (24 for 66) in his last 16 games.

To drop two games under.500 for the first time since April 28, Toronto (41-43) has lost three straight and 12 of 15. With 123, Lyle Overbay, Dewayne Wise and Edwin Encarnacion homered for the Blue Jays, who lead the majors with 123.

Due to flu-like symptoms, All-Star Vernon Wells hopes to return to Toronto’s lineup after he sat out Tuesday’s game. In his last 18 at-bats, he is hitless. Over the past 14 games, Twins starters have a 5.13 ERA. Kevin Slowey (8-5, 4.57 ERA), did his part to lower that number and he looks to provide Minnesota with a second consecutive solid outing. On May 17, Slowey beat the Blue Jays 8-3 at Rogers Centre yielding three runs and eight hits in five innings.

The Cleveland Indians are on the verge of matching their longest winning streak of the season. On Wednesday night, as they continue their home series with the Jays, Indians try for a fourth straight victory.

On Sunday, by beating Cincinnati, Cleveland (29-47) snapped a seven-game slide before taking the first two of this four-game set. On Tuesday, Travis Hafner added two hits in a 5-4 and Matt LaPorta hit his second home run, contributing to the win.

The Indians are on the verge of winning a series for the first time since June 11-13 and they have won four in a row twice this year.
With two outs Tuesday, Cleveland scored four times and has scored 44 percent of their runs after two were out, third best in the majors.

In the series LaPorta, called up from the minors Sunday, is 3 for 7 and 5 for 13 against the Blue Jays this season. With two RBIs against Toronto in 2010, Hafner is 6 for 16.

Since being recalled from the minors to join the rotation after an unsuccessful relief stint, Aaron Laffey (0-2, 6.37) will make his second start. On Saturday, in four innings of a 10-3 loss at Cincinnati, he allowed five runs.

On Saturday Blue Jays turn to Jesse Litsch (0-2, 8.78), after throwing seven innings in a 3-0 victory over San Francisco. He allowed six runs and walked four in four innings of a 9-0 loss to Philadelphia.

For the second straight night, All-Star second baseman Aaron Hill went 0 for 4 and he is 4 for 32 in the last nine games. Toronto has hit .224 and scored 27 runs during that span.

Chicago White Sox have to improve their starting pitching which has been the key reason for most of their disappointing starts. John Danks however has been impressive. Danks is Sox’s strength.

The key players for Sox are Danks (3-0, 1.85), Mark Buehrle (5.30) and Jake Peavy (6.31). In four starts against the Blue Jays, Danks is 1-2 with a 5.03 ERA and gave up two runs in five innings. Freddy Garcia presence will also count a lot for the Sox.

Rommie Lewis, the leadoff man for the Jays has been in great touch. His feature packed performance includes three-hits, two-RBI games against the Indians on Wednesday. In five May contests, he went 9-for-24 for a .429/.480/.762 line to go along with six runs scored and five RBIs.

Dana Eveland has pitched well for the Jays with -0, 1.50 ERA in 12 innings against the White Sox in his career, including a six-innings, two-run victory when these two teams met last month.
