AL Central – Minnesota Twins

The Minnesota Twins excitingly slipped into the 2009 postseason without much of an attractive playoff in the last season. The team played against the Yankees whom they have faced several times all through 2009, but still couldn’t show a single win in their total 10 matches.

The team made a few changes this season. It has extended the contract of Joe Mauer for the season and began the offseason games with the Carlos Gomez and J.J. Hardy trades. Taking up Gomez fixed the team’s outfield and Hardy will prove to be the ultimate trade with his prime, low buy player and a kind upside that will help him recover from the unacceptable last season playoff.

Minnesota Twins team manager Bill Smith also signed in a few veterans with a soft market and brought back Jacque Jones in a small league contract. He also resigned Carl Pavano for the season.

The offensive skills of the team are the next most importantly considered part. Minnesota Twins targets to having a better game in this 2010 season. However this will largely depend on how the Target field plays in the season. At the second case, Hudson proves to be a better choice over Alexi Casilla. Similarly, Hardy is believed to be an improvement for the team over Harris who will be getting back to his main role together with Nick Punto.

As a whole, the success of the team also relies largely on the performances of Jason Kubel and Michael Cuddayer.
