AL Central Preview – Cleveland Indians

The Cleveland Indians are back and making every single effort to build up a great lineup for this 2010 season. The team has quite a few changes which thus makes it interesting to wait and watch their upcoming performances this season.

The team has been assigned a new manager for ensuring a better performance than last year where it was tied at the last place with Kansas City. Also, with the end of this season, it will have a new general manager to look up to. The team has a potential offensive side this season but still needs to rise over its biggest weakness from the last season: Pitching.

This year, the Cleveland Indians don’t have C.C. Sabathia and Cliff Lee in their lineup, but instead have signed up Jake Westbrook. The two time 15 game winner, Westbrook missed out the 2009 season due to the Tommy John surgery. However, the better he pitches this entire season, more are the chances that Sabathia and Lee will be out of the team. Currently, Westbrook is in the end of a contract which will be paying him $11 million at the end of 2010.

The next change that the team has made this season is in its batting order. Manny Acta, the manager of the team announced that Grandy Sizemore will be batting second this season. The decision was made based on Sizemore’s inconsistent batting last year. However, Sizemore who recovered completely from an elbow and groin injury will have several RBI opportunities to take his career to a new height.
