NL West – Los Angeles Dodgers
Just recently the team not only managed to defend its National League West title but also earned the best record in the championship, which also marks the fifth anniversary of its 1959 World Series Championship. When the team reached for the second season, it was only once more fall short of the five games. During the spring training of the year 2009, the Dodgers opened its high class spring training facility which includes a stadium with seating capacity of about thirteen thousand that is many times that what the team had since the year 1984.
The year 2009 was an eventful year for the team. They signed Claudio Vargas, Guillermo Mota, Andruw Jones were signed in January, Randy Wolf, Orlando Hudson in February, and in March Manny Ramirez renewed his contract.
On April 13, the team’s player Orlando Hudson hit the cycle since Wes Parker in year 1970. Also, the Dodgers began the season by breaking the previous record of 9-0 and setting a new record of 13-0 at home. But unfortunately in May, MLB dished out a verdict for the Manny Ramirez as a suspension of fifty games as he was found positive for some banned substance. In May end, the Dodgers scored seven runs in fourth and eight in the seventh innings respectively. The team lost three games in a row in the month of July. But it recovered soon and it defeated the Milwaukee Brewers with score of 17-4, highest run total runs after year 1976. And in October, the team won back-to-back pennants.
