NL West Preview – Colorado Rockies
The Colorado Rockies ended the season year 2009 at 92-70, making it to 2nd place in the National League West. They were only beaten by the LA Dodgers.
The team was on fire right through the season, like they had shown in previous years such as 2007. The Rockies made for an excellent home team, at 51-30, being only one of 7 teams in the major league to win over 50 games at home.
SS Troy Tulowitzki had the best season of his career, with a .297 average, 32 Home Runs, 92 RBI and a slugging percentage of .552. This put him 7th in the National League. Tulowitzki is a young player with a lot of potential, and should have a successful career in the years to come. Ian Stewart, Clint Barmes and Brad Hawpe all had an average of over 20 Home Runs in the year 2009.
Todd Helton might not score 40 Home Runs again in 2010, but he managed to put up a great performance in 2009. He scored 15 Home Runs, 86 RBI batting .325, which put him 4th in the National League and 177 hits, which put him 11th in the National League.
Jorge De La Rosa led the Rockies in wins with 16, putting him 3rd in the National League. Hudson Street was the closer for the Rockies and put in solid performances all year, with 35 saves. While they couldn’t make it to the World Series, they still had a lot to take home at the end of the season. Their prospects look bright for 2010.
